A big milestone anniversary for the international flagship trade fair of the sector.
Dortmund (AWe) – Dortmund gets ready for a big milestone anniversary. In 2018, glasses can be raised in a toast to the 40-year-long, very successful history of the InterTabac trade fair. More than 550 exhibitors are awaited when the Dortmund trade fair again underlines its meanwhile undisputed, internationally leading position. Dates: 21 to 23 September 2018.
The very first InterTabac trade fair with 78 exhibitors and 1,750 visitors took place on 19 and 20 August 1978. The
idea at that time was to establish a platform that allowed tobacconists to obtain comprehensive information on
new products and offer better purchasing opportunities at a single place.
InterTabac has meanwhile become the world’s largest trade fair for tobacco products and smoking accessories. Visitors include not only retailers but also numerous international top decision-makers and buyers. The percentage of foreign trade visitors was 41 per cent in 2017. People from 64 countries visited the Dortmund Exhibition Centre. 65 per cent of InterTabac’s exhibitors came from abroad last year. In 2017, a total of 560 exhibitors participated in InterTabac and 12,500 trade visitors came into the exhibition halls.
The Latest Developments
The history of the trade fair boasts many successful developments. In 2015 for example, the range of trade fairs held in Dortmund was extended to include InterSupply, the trade fair for the production of tobacco goods. Besides processing and logistics equipment for tobacco, this trade fair covers all process stages and supplier products for the production of tobacco goods and the production of e-cigarettes.
In 2017, the e-cigarette topic which was booming at InterTabac was consolidated in three adjacent exhibition halls for the first time. The ‘shishas and accessories’ topic was concentrated in Hall 8. In 2018, InterTabac will occupy the largest number of halls in its history. The famous ‘Westfalenhalle’ event arena (Hall 1) will be integrated into the trade fair for the first time. Together with Halls 2 and 3A, it will give the Next Generation Product segment covering e-cigarettes and liquids a large industrial platform. InterTabac will also occupy Halls 3A, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. The co-located InterSupply trade fair will take place in Hall 3 B.
InterTabac has firmly established itself today as worldwide leading international networking platform. The traditional GET TOGETHER PARTY at the end of the first trade fair day has contributed to that. The sector will
celebrate in Hall 3B this year. It is the youngest and most modern hall on the exhibition site. Admission is restricted
to exhibitors and trade visitors with a separately purchased ticket.
